Can you trace my family tree?
We are not primarily a genealogical centre as other organisations provide specialist services in this area but the Centre does contains sources which can assist visitors who are attempting to trace their ancestors.

These sources include:

  • The Irish Emigration Database which contains shipping lists and emigrant letters.
  • Books on family names
  • Some early American censi in book form
  • Histories of early pioneers in a number of American states
  • Biographies of prominent Americans
  • Files on family names
  • Griffiths Valuation lists and Tithe Applotment Lists for Ulster on microfiche
  • Copies of Griffith Ordinance Survey maps for Ulster
  • Other information on the Irish diaspora worldwide

Our staff can also refer genealogists to the various archives and libraries where further information may be held and put you in direct contact with the Ulster Historical Foundation which specialises in tracing family history.

Is there an entrance charge to the Centre?
