Reminiscing on Royal Avenue – BCL wants your library memories

 Thursday 29 May 2008

One of Belfast’s best-known and best-loved public buildings is celebrating its 120th year of serving the people of the city and wants to hear the memories of the many generations that have passed through its doors.

Central Library on Royal Avenue is one of the city’s flagship buildings and to mark this latest milestone in its history, staff are compiling a short booklet of stories that will reflect what the library means to the people of Belfast.

Belfast Central Library has played a part in the lives of the vast majority of people living and working here to some degree,” said Belfast Central Library Research and Development Officer Julie Campbell.

“We would like to put together a booklet that reflects the meaning and importance of the library through the eyes of the public. We are looking for people to get in touch if they have any interesting memories of Central Library or a story to tell about how the library has impacted on their life. We would also like to hear from any old members of staff.”

Julie can be contacted at Julie.Campbell@NI-Libraries.NET or at Belfast Central Library  on 02890 509150.
