Magherafelt Library is one of the venues chosen throughout Northern Ireland to host activities planned as part of the Ulster Museum’s outreach programme, as the museum is closed until Spring 2009 for major redevelopment.
Magherafelt Library (The Bridewell, Church Street) is hosting an exhibition entitled ‘Treasures of the Art Collections’ for members of the public to view from Thursday 1st November until the end of the year.
Images in this panel display ‘Treasures of the Art Collections’ are drawn from the Museum's wonderful art collections.
The Fine Art collection embraces a wide range of paintings, watercolours, prints, drawings and sculptures dating from the late 15th century to the present day, most notably the Irish collection and the 20th century British, European and American works. The Applied Art holdings contain particularly important collections of historic and contemporary silver, glass and ceramics, as well as a renowned collection of international and 'High Street' fashion.
Eight NEELB Libraries have agreed to assist the Ulster Museum with its Outreach Programme, with displays, talks and handling sessions taking place in Antrim, Ballymena, Ballymoney, Carrickfergus, Coleraine, Glengormley, Larne and Magherafelt Libraries until August 2008.
