Genealogy for the over 50s – A Family History Course for Beginners at Lisburn City Library

Thinking of making your New Year Resolutions? If you are over 50 and interested in researching your family history, why not contact staff at Lisburn City Library to enrol for this informative course.

Participants will attend a total of 10 sessions designed for those starting out on their family history research. The concepts and principal sources of genealogy will be introduced in a relaxed and informal manner and help and advice will be available for independent research. Course tutor will be Brian Watson, who is a member of the Society of Genealogists Northern Ireland (SGNI).

The course, courtesy of The Atlas Centre, will take place in Lisburn City Library each Thursday from 2.00pm – 4.00pm, beginning Thursday 14th January 2010 and concluding Thursday 18th March 2010. “This is a great opportunity for anyone who is curious about where they came from, as participants will receive a wealth of information and expertise to guide them in the right direction.” (Joan Magee, Local Studies Support Specialist, Libraries NI). The Atlas Centre (Adult Training Learning And Support), provides educational and leisure courses and workshops for all members of the community.

Admission is free but booking is essential as places are limited.
