Whitehead Library reopens its doors
People in Whitehead have been waiting to hear when the library (Edward Road) is reopening its doors and a spokesperson from Libraries NI has confirmed that the library will reopen on Tuesday 23rd March at 10am, having undergone a huge extension and refurbishment work.
Libraries NI to Welcome Brian Moses
Renowned Children’s poet Brian Moses will visit 3 libraries in Northern Ireland during March to perform a poetry and percussion show.

Bug hotels open at Omagh Library as Libraries NI help the environment
Children and staff at Omagh Library constructed not one but two hotels for our mini-beast friends as part of Green Balloon Week in July 2009.
Library history class goes to Gaol!
A history class which meets weekly in Greenisland Library (17 Glassillan Grove, tel. 9086 5419) took on a more active role when they participated in a visit to Crumlin Road Gaol, organised by Carrickfergus and District Historical Society, on Wednesday 22 July. The class, which is currently studying the Civil Rights period of Northern Ireland’s history (1968-1974) with tutor Karen McCartney of the Ulster Peoples College, found the tour round this famous landmark very relevant to their studies.
Local Schools Showcase Artwork in Belfast Central Library
Libraries NI will exhibit a selection of artwork submitted by Belfast school children from 24th – 25th July as part of London 2012 Open Weekend, supported by BP – a series of events across the country enabling access to excellence in the arts, culture and sport and celebrating three years to go until the London 2012 Olympic Games.

This exciting resource is now available free from the Libraries NI network to library members and is ideal for researching family and social history, permitting online access to more than 5 billion names in over 4,000 collections, and covering 1300 to the present. It is a developing website with new material being added on a regular basis.
